Anniversary Adventure {Year 2}

We celebrated 2 years together in perfect Dylabby fashion. I planned a surprise camping trip to Providence Canyon in good ol' Lumpkin Georgia. I saw "scattered showers" in the forecast, but thought, "We can't let weather stop us or we'd never do anything. And it'll probably just be a short little spurt. It'll be fine." So we drove on up and were welcomed in late afternoon by heavy downpour for hours. Phones had no service and we didn't know anything around us, so we decided to just drive until we hopefully found a motel or somewhere to stay.

"Omaha Brewing Company, 14 miles this way" we saw on a sign. "What?! A brewery around here?" Strange but true, and it kept us warm and dry for a while as we figured out our plan. It also brought us a crowd full of funeral goers that offered some interesting stories-- 34 year old lady that had joined a biker gang in the last several years... Said biker gang "raised hell" with all their noise during the processional per tradition.

From there we headed to Columbus and hoped to find a last minute Airbnb. To our luck, the sweetest lady had the coziest historic apartment walking distance from downtown. So we walked around town and had some tasty Vietnamese. Dylan enjoyed chit chatting with our young Vietnamese waiter and hopes to have inspired him to go visit his homeland. I was impressed that the only chain place they had was Salt Life. Way to go, Columbus.

We woke up the next day to beautiful weather with not a cloud in the sky. So we hiked the canyon, Hobie frolicked in the muddy clay, and we enjoyed the heck out of everything. (Side note, if you're thinking of visiting the canyon, I'd say only go if you're in the area. Otherwise it's quite the drive.)

Perfect 2 years of marriage. Perfect anniversary adventure. I am one lucky lady.
 Love my boys

  1. My friend Cheyanne wanted me to apologize for the way she got so excited and accosted you on the street while you were walking your Collie... Sorry about that, but it's nice to know there's another Collie owner in our area! I don't know if you'd be interested in guest posting on Collie Chatter, but I'd love to repost this or something else of yours where Hobie is featured. Congratulations on over 2 years of marriage, by the way!

Tivoli and Rugby

         Adding another great week to the list for my time in Denmark. Last Tuesday, I went to an international gathering for students at DTU (Denmark Technical Institute) at the Cellar Bar. I met a couple cool people there from Belgium (Ruben), Canada, France, and Denmark and met back up with a couple of them on Friday night. We went to see one of their Spanish friends play a Latin set at a bar in the city. On our way there, we were a bit worried at how this place would be considering it was on the street well known for its... Services. But we got to the Luna Bar and it wound up being really fun. The band was actually excellent , and had everyone dancing. Ruben and his friends were a lot of fun to hang out with.          On Saturday, I went to Tivoli, the second oldest theme park, with the family and met Claus' parents and sister there. It's no wonder Tivoli inspired Walt Disney to do his own thing. It's a beautiful  amusement par...

Hej fra Danmark!

        So I've finally arrived in Denmark and all settled in already. It's awesome in every way so far; the parents are so friendly and cool, the kids are adorable, the weather is amazing (I'm the only one walking around in shorts, a T-shirt and sandals, of course), the house is a beautiful, cozy home built around 1921, I just got done with a little explorative walk and the neighborhood/area is picturesque with flowers everywhere, adorable homes, and a lake nearby... It's just wonderful.           Yesterday, after a little confusion about where to meet up, using a stranger's phone (as always), and wandering around a bit, Lotte and one of the kids picked me up from the airport greeting me with the sign shown below. We made it back to the house after a little detour (I guess Lotte gets distracted driving too!), and we had coffee. We had breads and cake they got from the bakery for me to try, and they were all delicious.       ...

Crater Lake Birthday {Dylan's 40th}

Dylan has never been a big birthday celebration guy. This year when I asked him what he wanted to do, he said something like, "I don't know. Maybe get some nice dinner around town somewhere?" But I on the otherhand  must celebrate birthdays. Especially Dylan's. This guy deserves a memorable celebration.  So I insisted we go to Crater Lake and it was so worth it. What an incredible, jaw dropping, thought provoking place. The first night, we sat enjoying the bluest waters with the perfect lighting. We camped at Mazama where we were all set up with our new camping boiler thing to cook up our freeze dried camping meals, new headlamps, coffee plans... and then ate some hot chili and a meal at the campground lodge. haha We at least enjoyed out coffee at the tent the next morning.  The next day was filled with three fantastic hikes to see the Watchman Lookout for epic views of this like 2000' deep, 7700 year old crater. Then we got a lovely wildflower loop and waterfall ...
