Where's Abby (+ Dylan and dogs)

As I enjoy more front porch sitting (obvi a favorite of mine), in this fantastic breeze, with blue skies, I'm just flat out grateful.  I'm grateful for my morning in the sun and watching (and laughing at/with) this family fail at flying their kite. Grateful for a day that can start at the beach and end in a much needed vacation in Boston with Best Friend Rubin. I am  so  looking forward to this as a chance to rest, recuperate from the last very stressful, exhausting weeks, escape, and explore. For a coworker giving me Big Brother-Style love and encouragement and perfectly appropriate Bible verses.   And for silly times at work with my "Special C's." Yesterday we had a Princess Picnic with homemade crowns and unicorn horns, ate cheese and crackers on a blanket among the flowers/weeds, and made welcome back signs for a girl returning from the hospital. I really wish I could share a picture of this awesome picnic buut... HIPAA.     How...

    Long weekends are the greatest. And it seems like I've had several lately so I'm pretty happy... This weekend was Wednesday-Sunday off thanks to some Kristi Hemmelfart  for giving us a holiday.  On  Wednesday, I just had a relaxing day full of reading Born to Run and getting inspired by these superhuman Tarahumara people and Jenn Shelton , who I basically wish I was. But READ THAT BOOK! It's awesome, fascinating, challenging and inspiring.   My Thursday actually started at 6:30am, on a holiday, with no alarm! But I used it and went for a super nice run, putting that inspiration from the Tarahumara into action and running TWO whole miles more than my recent runs (previous statement to be read with sarcasm, as these folks run 435 in two days.) But ya gotta start somewhere, right? At the very end of my run, the rain started that would soon  ruin my plans of biking to the city,  completely soak me on the way to the station, and cause...

After meeting this amazing musician, I actually got the reason for most girls' dream of dating one... My own song.  I felt beyond special when I was sitting there listening to this song this cute boy had written... So for my girlfriend and groupie duties, I'll be (possibly obnoxiously) sharing random videos of Sune Grip... and links, info, and whatever promotional bits I want. Even if I wasn't seeing this guy I would still be impressed by his musical talents.        Although it may seem like we didn't do a lot in terms of touristy stuff, this trip was still quite an adventure. Even with our lack of willingness to pay for museums or wait in lines, museums being closed, and early nights, we still managed to do a lot. And if you don't wanna read this whole post, a quick summary could be "lots of walking, canals, shopping, coffee shops, beer, one castle, one tower, cats, flutes, biking, Jesus' blood, live music, and great people."  But for those avid readers, have at it! Amsterdam         This wonderful city was the first stop on our journey. We got there Thursday night and stayed with Simon, a couchsurfing host. We were welcomed with homemade beer, exchanging favorite tunes, and stopping in a club, Canvas, super close to his house. Our first observations were the more colorful, hippie, dreaded (hair) people. They were quite interesting dancers too. Maria and I loved all the color people...

                       Last Wednesday, Sune and I  went to an awesome open mic at Drop In for him to meet a girl he might sing with. There were so many great bands and it was awesome seeing him play... He's so good! And so cute. And I'm not biased at all! ;)  Some guy kept telling me how hott and amazing Sune was. I obviously agreed.                        Lisa, the girl Sune was meeting to play with, was a really cool character. She was so nice and just very unique. We both said how she was "just an interesting human." A good singer too. She has a cool, blues style, with lots of attitude during her song. She had a pretty interesting story too... She's from Vermont/New York, lived in China for 9 months and then moved here with her Danish boyfriend.                      I got to meet Sys Bjerre ...

                Charlotte and her band, Alfunks, played  at Studenterhuset two Thursdays ago. I was so excited to see her and imagined they'd be really good after getting that wonderful preview with Charlotte singing at Anne-Lise's birthday.  They did not disappoint.  They were so good, entertaining, and all great musicians.  You can (and should!) check em out on Facebook or Myspace !   :)   It was also awesome getting to see everyone after a long time apart for Christmas.  Got to see Maria, Anne-Lise, Ewelina, Thomas, and Charlotte, of course! I didn't realize how much I'd missed them all! Sune came out too, and got to meet the whole gang!  Was a really great night.
