Sunday Times {9/25/24}

This Sunday Times got held up on the route to your screen. The carrier must've been some bandits on the road or something.

Monday, I'd never felt so scatterbrained in my life. There were so many steps I needed to take in wacky orders that weren't able to be done before these other steps and then you'd get new information that changed the whole process and needed to scrap it and start over. I felt a mess.

But then Tuesday I got to go into the schools and see my sweet kids and it was wonderful.

Wednesday and Thursday were remote days that were so productive, comfortable and fulfilling. Like a 35 minute dog walk + bringing coffee home to my hubby vs a 35 minute drive? Yes please. Eating a healthy lunch and doing laundry on my lunch break. Being immediately home at 4:00 and ready for bike rides/walks. Working from a cozy coffee shop with Dylan one day. It's all just glorious.

Wednesday after work, we went on a long bike ride to Woodstock to putter around, then to Sellwood for a fun dinner, and a rainy bike ride home. The rain was actually nice though, giving us a good feel riding along the river.

Friday we watched Beetlejuice 1 to prep for 2 the next day.

On Saturday, we enjoyed another long, cruising bike ride to the NW region, enjoying the colorful little homes, a delicious Pho lunch at Saigon 2 Singapore. There was a cool new area along the West side of the river we hadn't seen yet too-- those condos did such a good job with their trees and landscaping! So lush right by the river. We actually even did some shopping that day too!

We almost did a fun Beetlejuice extravaganza with a trip to the Lone Fir Cemetery and the Coffin Club before the movie, but the downpour changed that plan to just movie time.

Sunday we saw I think like 7 waterfalls on a hike on the Wahkeena Falls and Multnomah Loop.

2023 in Review (Plus 2020-2022, oops)

I am super bummed to realize that I haven't done a yearly review/highlights since 2019! That's FOUR YEARS ago! Pre covid, pre Oregon, pre master's degree, pre return to Florida, pre a million babies being born... So much has changed! It's always to nice to sit back and look at all that happens in a year too.  It's now February. I started this post in December and was about to go and try to edit and make it all fancy with links to other posts and all kinds of cool things.... I'm sure there are some mistakes even with the years, things left out... but progress over perfection right? We're just going posting it in 3...2...1... Have fun!  2023   1. Bike bike biking everywhere. To the Grom for tasty lunch treats, Indian almost every week, grocery shopping, to the gym, just to bike around in the sun. It's been great!   2. All the babies came: Lowey-Balls, Krupkas, Bakers, neighbor friends x2, Sarkissians, and even more to come!  3. Finally got the best job wit...

Things I Learned This Weekend

1. Throwing away pictures quickly turns into hours of laughing at old selves and bringing back so many memories. High school friends and I have often wondered what we did in high school since we weren't the typical partying teens. After this picture raid, I realized... we took pictures. In dressing rooms, walmart, cars, kitchen islands...  2. My parents are awesome. I didn't learn this this weekend but it was definitely reinforced. They are just such dedicated, good people. We're also surrounded by some amazingly supportive friends.  3. My dad is so cool. I mean really... Cool guy on the right... Can he get any more awesome? Not to mention that crazy guy on the left, aka Uncle Dennis. I never did get a straight answer about whether he dressed like that on the reg or not. So was that a regular occurrence, Dennis?! ;) 4. Sleepy babies are one of the sweetest things to see.  5. Having adult conversations with toddlers is so amusing to me. Brooks and I d...

Tivoli and Rugby

         Adding another great week to the list for my time in Denmark. Last Tuesday, I went to an international gathering for students at DTU (Denmark Technical Institute) at the Cellar Bar. I met a couple cool people there from Belgium (Ruben), Canada, France, and Denmark and met back up with a couple of them on Friday night. We went to see one of their Spanish friends play a Latin set at a bar in the city. On our way there, we were a bit worried at how this place would be considering it was on the street well known for its... Services. But we got to the Luna Bar and it wound up being really fun. The band was actually excellent , and had everyone dancing. Ruben and his friends were a lot of fun to hang out with.          On Saturday, I went to Tivoli, the second oldest theme park, with the family and met Claus' parents and sister there. It's no wonder Tivoli inspired Walt Disney to do his own thing. It's a beautiful  amusement par...
