Carla came to visit! I learned that it just takes a Carla and a few randomized cocktails to get me dancing at a dragshow. We did a daytrip to the coast,
Not as many pedalpaloozas happened this year, but we did make it to the kick off ride and the goth ride. One highlight of the goth ride was having a friend from Florida actually get to join. We never made it to hang out with him and his family while in Florida, but on his quick trip to Portland for an event, he couldn't say no to the idea of this ride.
The Krupkas came to visit! This was their 3rd visit out to see us (including 2 visits when we were on the coast), so they are currently in the lead of visitors, so catch up friends and family! As usual, it was jam packed with their family, even with the addition of their fireball 2year old, they had more stamina than we did! Togther, we did 2 hikes in the city (Forest Park and Council Crest), had two spaghetti dinners in our backyard! (Extra thanks to the Mom and Pops for our lovely garden table setup), rode bike with Martin to meet the rest of the gang at Sellwood for a swim. They ventured off for several day trips for more hiking, train rides, lake swims, and park adventures.
We found our home! We have been so happy settling into this house, making it our own and welcomed 3 visitors in the first month! Anton and Jess were a funny pair that actually opted for their camping pad to sleep before their Mt. Hood trek, and Kaila came up to stay on her way back from her California adventure. The dogs have been loving the backyard, as have we enjoying breakfasts and dinners in the garden, relaxing in our little pit,..
One of my random favorite nooks in our house is this upstairs view, but overall we were sold on the windows with greenery all around. The first house that didn't just feel right, it felt so right!
I got one indepednent trip in so far with a night in Bend for a Caamp concert. One fun moment was when the girl next to me let me know this was her first solo concert, and then the two girls in front of us chimed in that it was theirs too! So we joined forces as Taylor Meier swooners all night. Thanksful for a night's stay at friend Naomi's who I got to paddleboard down the Deschutes with the nexst morning.
On the drive home, I finally checked the Blue Pool off my list. It’s been on there since our PC days, and it did not disappoint. I hiked along the river and up to a lookout where I gasped at the bluest water below. I almost talked myself out of hiking down to swim since it was already getting late, I still had to drive back to Portland, I forgot my swimsuit in the car... whatever random excuses. But luckily I made my feet keep walking down to feel the coldest water my body has experienced. After diving in, someone alerted me it was 37°! Now, every other time I've taken the plunge, I'd have a satisfied, "that was worth it," feel, but this one was a litlte differnt. I suppose I was glad I did it for the experience but not sure I'd say . One girl asked if it was refreshing and I couldn't quite say that either.
