High Five for Friday

So I'm a day late but here are my highlights from this week...

1. Being left with so much inspiration, motivation and dreams after finishing Paris Letters. Stocked up on my art supplies, made my list of strategies to save money, and "decided to start living the life I imagined," from the words of Wordle Myrtle Leslie. (Check her out. She's awesome. And maybe she'll start writing more if she gets more views and people pestering her. Readyyy GO!)

2. Getting my feet running on the sand again.

3. The ab-working, eyes-tearing laughing session my coworkers and I had last night. We went from talking about our dreams and aspirations to hookers on houseboats (me referring to this Netherlands story), to me thanking Daniel for improving my odds keeping me off the streets. Daniel... "Improving the odds for kids... And staff."

4. Roomie and my trilingual/Spanglish/Danglish conversations during our afternoon bike ride. Practicing pick up lines like "du har en flot røv. Ring til mig?" with a Chinese accent had me laughing quite a bit.

5. Taking the kiddos at work to Memorial Park. I was beyond excited to see the previously drama and anger-filled group of girls getting along and smiling. The blooming flowers and petable puppies made the day even better. I don't know if it's just me, but for some reason I find a lot of amazement in days like today that start out so rainy, gray, and gloomy and turn into beautiful masterpieces like this. Does this transformation make anyone else just feel like anything can happen?

Tivoli and Rugby

Adding another great week to the list for my time in Denmark. Last Tuesday, I went to an international gathering for students at DTU (Denmark Technical Institute) at the Cellar Bar. I met a couple cool people there from Belgium (Ruben), Canada, France, and Denmark and met back up with a couple of them on Friday night. We went to see one of their Spanish friends play a Latin set at a bar in the city. On our way there, we were a bit worried at how this place would be considering it was on the street well known for its... Services. But we got to the Luna Bar and it wound up being really fun. Sunday Times {Plus a Quarterly Review}

A weekly update has now begun! If not for anything but to keep more of journal for ourselves to recap and think about each week. So much happens so quick I don't want to forget all the fun details! This week was my first full week to work with all the crew at my new job. Lots of planning with caseloads and meetings, and such. Excited to get working with the kids more in the next weeks. Dylan started his clinical this week too for his last semester of grad school! Woohoo! He's been killin' it and so close to graduating. Monday was Labor Day and was a very cozy rainy Oregon day. It's been quite toasty lately, so this actually felt good. So we had a long walk to Peninsula Park for some roses and then hung around the casa making bags and relaxin. Washington Birthday Round 3 {My 35th}

In pure Dylabby fashion, we had a very informal plan to head east to see the Painted Hills, John Day Fossil Beds, John Day River, and desert time, but then as we were packing up the car that morning, we changed our plans and decided to head north to Colchuck Lake in Washington. More chance for seeing the Northern Lights? Autumn colors? Less chance of rattlesnakes biting our dogs? Those were a few of the random reasons that were thrown out there. We booked a hotel on the drive up for Wenatchee, WA near Leavenworth-- Leavenworth was crazy expensive, later to find out the Oktoberfest reason why. And booking camping in Washington is not fun. If anyone has tips that don’t involve having to book 6months (or even a month) in advance or having to do a whole lottery to get a permit, please let us last-minute travelers know. We did get a good stop in Leavenworth for some German beers, people watching, and a beautiful river walk right in town, and a lovely sunset dinner view. The next ...
